Frequently asked questions
Can I make an image smaller than 100 KB (or any size)?
Yes. Choose "Target file size" and pick or type the size. The tool finds the best quality that fits, and only makes the picture smaller if that is not enough.
How much smaller will my image get?
It depends on the image. Phone photos often shrink by 50–80% at 70% quality, especially combined with a maximum size of 1920 or 2560 pixels.
Why didn't my PNG get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so its size can't be reduced with a quality setting. Choose WebP or JPG for real savings, or reduce the dimensions.
What quality should I use?
Between 60% and 80% is a good balance for photos. Below 50%, artifacts become noticeable.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser.
