Frequently asked questions
Can I compress a video to an exact size, like 10 MB?
Yes. Choose "Target file size" and pick 10, 25, 50 or 100 MB, or type your own. The tool sets the bitrate and resolution, checks the result and re-encodes once more if it came out too big.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser using your own device. Your video never leaves your computer or phone.
How much smaller will my video get?
Phone videos often shrink by 60–90% with "Small" and a 720p limit. Videos that are already heavily compressed shrink less.
Which setting should I choose?
"Balanced" for good quality, "Small" for messaging apps, "Smallest" when size matters most.
Why is my file not smaller?
Some videos are already compressed efficiently. Try a lower resolution or the "Smallest" level.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (16.4+). The tool uses WebCodecs, your browser's built-in video encoder, and tells you before you start if something isn't supported.
