Frequently asked questions

Can I make a boomerang GIF?

Yes. Under Play choose Boomerang: the GIF plays forward and then backward in a loop. You can also play it backward only, or speed it up.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser using your own device. Your files never leave your computer or phone.

Why is my GIF so big?

GIF is an old, inefficient format. Make it shorter, narrower, use fewer frames per second or fewer colors. The GIF Optimizer can shrink it further.

What are good settings?

480 px wide at 10–15 fps for 2–6 seconds is a good balance of quality and size.

Is there a length limit?

Up to 600 frames per GIF, for example 40 seconds at 15 fps.
