Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser using your own device. Your video never leaves your computer or phone.

Does WebM work on iPhone?

Modern Safari plays WebM, but for maximum compatibility on older Apple devices MP4 is safer.

Why is my audio removed?

WebM uses Opus audio. If your browser can't encode Opus, the tool keeps the video and tells you the audio was dropped.

Is the conversion lossless?

Only if your video is already VP8, VP9 or AV1. Otherwise it is re-encoded at high quality.

Which browsers are supported?

Recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (16.4+). The tool uses WebCodecs, your browser's built-in video encoder, and tells you before you start if something isn't supported.
