How to convert MOV to MP4 without losing quality
Updated · about 1 minutes
Most MOV files from iPhones and cameras already contain H.264 or HEVC video. In that case the converter only repackages it into an MP4: no re-encoding, no quality loss, and it takes seconds.

- 1
Open the MOV converter
Choose your .mov file. The tool shows its codec and whether a fast, lossless conversion is possible.
- 2
Keep MP4 as the output
MOV files go to MP4 by default. Leave "Keep audio" ticked.
- 3
Optional: more options
Open "More options" to lower the resolution (for example 1080p from 4K), the frame rate, or the quality, for a smaller file. These re-encode the video.
- 4
Convert and download
Press Convert to MP4 and download the result.
Tips
- HEVC (H.265) MP4s from newer iPhones play on most devices; for very old players, choose a lower quality in More options to re-encode to H.264.
- Converting the same file twice never makes it better: keep the original if you can.
