Updated · about 2 minutes
A boomerang plays a moment forward and then backward, forever. The Video to GIF tool can do this from any clip, at any speed.

- 2
Pick a short moment
Set From and To to 1–3 seconds. Boomerangs work best with simple motion (a jump, a toss, a wave).
- 3
Choose Boomerang
Under Play pick Boomerang. Use Speed 1.5× or 2× for the snappy look.
- 4
Set size and frames
480px wide at 15 frames per second is a good balance; 320px makes a much smaller file.
- 5
Make the GIF
Press Make GIF and download it.
Tips
- GIFs get big fast: keep boomerangs short and under 480px for chats.
- Need a video instead? The Reverse Video tool also makes boomerang MP4s with sound.
Questions
Does the GIF loop forever?
Yes, by default. Choose "Play once" under Loop if you don’t want it to repeat.
Why is my GIF so large?
GIF is an old format. Lower the width, the frame rate or the number of colors.
