How to make Hindi subtitles automatically
Updated · about 5 minutes
General speech models often write Hindi in English letters. VideoTouro switches to a model trained on 700+ hours of Hindi when you choose Hindi, so captions come out in Devanagari with a time for every word.

- 1
Add your video to Auto Subtitles
Open Auto Subtitles and choose your video. It stays on your device.
- 2
Choose Hindi as the language
In Language pick Hindi. A note confirms that the Hindi model will be used (about 92 MB, downloaded once).
- 3
Generate and review
Press Generate captions, then read through the lines. Names and English words mixed into Hindi are the usual things to fix.
- 4
Style and export
Choose a caption style, then burn the subtitles into the video or download an SRT file.
Tips
- Choosing Hindi yourself is faster and more reliable than "Detect automatically".
- If your video mixes a lot of English, keep the general model (choose "Detect automatically" with Balanced) and compare.
Questions
Will the subtitles be in Devanagari or English letters?
Devanagari. The Hindi model was trained on Hindi text in Devanagari script.
How accurate is it?
In our tests on public Hindi speech, about 3 in 10 words needed fixing, compared to most words with the general Fast model. Clear audio does better.
Can I translate Hindi speech to English subtitles?
Yes: set Output to English. That uses the general model, which can translate.
